Playing Career
- Paul began his professional career in the Minnesota Twins farm system, first with the Rookie-Level Elizabethton Twins in 1985 then wirh the Class-A Kenosha Twins of the Midwest League.
- Paul moved through the minors till he was called up to the bigs on Aug 21, 1990.
- His MLB stops included: Minnesota Twins (1990–1992), Cleveland Indians (1993), Seattle Mariners (1998–2002), Kansas City Royals (2003), Tampa Bay Devil Rays (2004), and the Philadelphia Phillies (2004).

Coaching Career:
- On December 22, 2010, Paul was named pitching coach of the Lowell Spinners, Class A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, for the 2011 season.
- He previously was an assistant baseball coach at Fullerton Junior College and pitching coach for the independent Orange County Flyers of the Golden Baseball League.
Paul has a son Trent, who attended Servite High School and played baseball for Fullerton College and was drafted by Oakland Athletics in 2007 MLB draft.
